Right after WWI, Germany was in great debt and starvation. During this time, a man named Hitler rose to power very quickly. He soon started up a group, and he influenced many that the reason Germany was doing so badly and was in starvation was because of all the Jews and the people suppressing the German "superior" race from growing. This would soon turn into a group called the Nazis. The Nazis went into power during 1933, and began to rid any people opposing them. The concentration camps, first meant to imprison anyone who would pose a political threat to the Nazi government soon began to be used as a death prison for anyone. The Nazis had killed an estimated of 11 million people, and wounded and hurt many more. They were in power from 1933-1945, finally going down in 1945 from the help of many nations around the world. The Nazis and Germany were the main cause of World War II, as they had invaded many different countries. Germany, once a starving and poor country, rose to power and took over many places of Europe. They invaded countries, took over and soon started invading more. Nazi Germany strongly believed in eugenics, a social policy that believed that they could make the Aryan race stronger and that anyone who was deemed not worthy to live should be killed.
Nazi Germany, was not wrong in their own sense of thought. They were tricked into thinking that the Aryan race was superior, and that they would need to kill off anyone who was not on par with everyone else, just as the Spartans had done. In their thought, this was correct and they were doing everything right to preserve their race and to make it survive and thrive. The Nazis also strongly believed in animal welfare, and Germany during that time was the first country to bad animal vivisection. Many laws went into place to preserve animal life, such as hunting for animals would be forbidden and would be regulated to help the animals survive. Nazi Germany, in all means, is not a good thing for humans. They were corrupted, uncivil, crude, but their medical advances did help in our current day society. Their ways of obtaining those medical advances, however, were not civil and right. Nazi Germany practiced medicine and different projects on many humans, an act that is banned today. One of their medical advances, includes hypothermia. Nazis would take people and leave them outside in cold, harsh weather or leave them in a pool of freezing cold water. They would then study the heart rate and temperatures of the body and when hypothermia was reached, they would attempt to find the most effective measure of bringing the body back to normal temperatures without harming the body. The Nazis had found that "rapid rewarming" was the most effective measure in treating hypothermia, an measure that is still treated in today's hypothermia patients.
Hitler also tackled on unemployment and starvation. He had run some of the better welfare programs, and within years of the Great Depression, Hitler had brought Germany out of starvation and had Germany striving and flourishing. In 3 years, Hitler had supposedly reduced the number of 6 million people who were jobless to 1 million jobless. This was done through stimulation of the market, tax rebates, welfare, marriage checks, and many other things such as rebuilding of streets, making an affordable car such as the Volkswagen, and responsible government. Although the "responsible" government got out of hand later, Hitler had done a good start stimulating Germany's economy and pushing it back to be one of the strongest nations. There are many accomplishments that Hitler and the Nazis had accomplished, but that does not out shadow their horrible deeds and mistreatment.
